Yesterday was the official first day of fall (hooray!), and while I had originally planned to share a cute romper with you guys today, I decided to switch it up and show something a little more … seasonally appropriate. I always enjoy bringing unique pieces into my wardrobe, and this fun hooded wrap is one of my current favorites. It’s essentially a giant blanket scarf with a hood – like, how fantastic is that – oh, and did I mention it has pockets? Yeah, you definitely need it.
To keep the cozy autumn vibes going, I layered a ridiculously soft (I’m talking unicorn hair) knit sweater beneath the wrap. This top is a thin, semi-sheer piece in a beautiful color that the website dubbed “blackberry.” I think I confused most of my family with it because in some lights it looks black, in others it looks brown, and then randomly it will appear purple. So it’s basically as magical as Joseph’s coat of many colors. I’ve got to take a second to mention that the provider of this beautiful top, Lolly Clothing, has become one of my all-time favorite brands. I worked with them last fall, and continue to live in two of the tops they gifted me. They have some of the most comfortable, high-quality pieces I’ve ever owned!
With this new season, comes new beginnings. My life has had a lot of changes recently. Some good, some hard, and I’m continuing to grow through them. As most of you know, at the beginning of last month (right after celebrating my first blogiversary) I was forced into changing my blog name. I talked briefly about this in my reintroduction post on this new domain, however I’m still receiving questions as to why the change was made. For those of you still wondering, I received a letter from Vogue magazine telling me that my previous name “Drunk on Vogue” and logo were copyright infringement and they needed to be changed immediately or there would be serious repercussions. Plenty of bloggers have the word “vogue” in their name, but for some reason they chose me. It was painful to say goodbye to a title that had become so much a part of me, but it also gave me the opportunity to grow something new and beautiful. I’ve been putting my heart and soul into She Saw Style, and will continue to do so because blogging is what I’m passionate about – no matter what my name is. *Massive thank you to everyone who has continued to come back to my site and support me through all the changes!*
This season has also brought about a few other changes! My mom (who was my photographer for the longest time) just had major back surgery last week to correct stenosis, a cyst on her spine, two bulging discs, and a slipped vertebrae. It was quite the doozy of a surgery, and two days after the operation, the doctors discovered three blood clots on her lungs and rapidly had to put her on life-saving medication. Needless to say, she will be recovering for a long time. With her being mostly immobile for the time being, my dad, sister, and I have stepped in to help as much as we can, whether it’s helping her specifically, or just helping around the house. We’re immensely grateful for all the generous friends bringing us meals and sending their prayers! Major perk to this season: Brandon is finally living here in Richmond! We made the decision to end the long distance gig, and he took the long drive from Florida to Virginia to be here with us during this season. I can’t even begin to express what a help this has been in my life. With all the craziness going on around me, he’s been there for me to lean on and laugh with whether things are going great or the days are feeling difficult.
Life brings so many changes. I’ve never been the biggest fan of change, but I’m beginning to learn how to roll with the punches. Times are going to be tough, but it’s the attitude you choose to have that will determine whether it makes you or breaks you. Times are going to be great, and it’s taking a moment to appreciate and be thankful for all you’ve been given that will help you through the tough times. Life’s a roller coaster, so I’m just going to keep my hands up. Here’s to autumn, and all the beauty this season will bring!
