One of my favorite things to do each autumn is head to Charlottesville for the wineries. Now I’m sharing exactly what to wear to a winery in the fall.
On Monday, my husband and I had the opportunity to enjoy a “day off” and go to Charlottesville to visit two wineries together. I put “day off” in quotes because we managed to work our booties off (while sipping on some delicious wines) in order to capture quality content for me to share! I was thrilled with the stunning 70° day and the gorgeous autumn foliage. I mentioned to someone that you don’t even need a trip to Vermont in the fall when you’ve got somewhere as gorgeous as Charlottesville close by.
We checked out two new-to-us wineries: Barboursville Vineyards and Horton Vineyards. Both had absolutely incredible tasting options, and I’m hoping to actually round-up some of our favorite Cville wineries in an upcoming post! For now, I’m sharing what I wore to the vineyards for the day, because now that I’ve been to my fair share of wineries, I think I have it down to a science.

What to wear to a winery in the fall:
More likely than not, you’ll experience a briskness in the air. For us, since Charlottesville is in the mountains, it gets a little breezy, and a lightweight jacket is ideal to have on hand. If it’s too sunny and warm, just wrap it around your waist to have on hand for later.
They’re a conversation starter and immensely comfortable. It’s something that you can easily tug on and you don’t have to worry about looking overdressed at any one location. Plus, they pair super well with that jacket I mentioned above!
Comfy, Stretchy Pants
I don’t know about you, but I tend to bloat just a little bit after drinking a decent amount of wine. Add in the snacks you’re *hopefully* eating in between wineries, the cheese plates you’re getting with your tastings, and any restaurants you might visit, and you’ll be so glad you wore stretchy pants. I get the most compliments on the Topshop Jamie Jeans that I wear all the time. I own them in several washes and highly recommend them for any occasion, not just winery-hopping!
Booties were made for wineries. They’re the perfect pair. If you’re at a stunning vineyard and you want to go wandering, you know you’ll be comfortable and practical, while also staying cute and matching your outfit. You don’t have to be boring with your booties. Grab one with a funky print or zipper detail to draw the eye, especially if you opt for a more simple graphic tee up top.
