Every year, when the transition from summer to autumn begins, I take it as an opportunity to play with my personal style and find new pieces that work for me. I find inspiration from other bloggers and celebrities that I admire, and I try to expand my fashion repertoire. This particular year, I wanted to primarily stay in the lane of street style or high fashion-inspired clothing, wearing less colors and more structured styles. However, every once in a while I knew I would drift back to my “old ways” and that is exactly what happened when I saw this top at Versona.
You see, in years past, I opted for more preppy styles and brighter colors – primarily in jewel tones. Emerald, burgundy, and deep amethyst were my go-tos, and I still can’t help but be drawn to those shades whenever I see them in a store. This particular top is not only beautiful, but incredibly soft and comfortable. I didn’t just wear it during this photoshoot, but before, while Brandon and I toured our first potential wedding venue (EEK!) and after to get coffee and have dinner with my family at my sister’s house. It’s so flattering with the babydoll silhouette and perfect length. In a previous post, I mentioned that my readers would be seeing lots of fun statement sleeves this season, and I wasn’t joking! These sleeves are to die for and they have a perfect little cutout that makes it easier to use your hands (i.e. eating or washing your hands)!
After purchasing this top, I was thrilled to find this gorgeous maroon hat at Target, and even more exciting is the fact that it’s part of their new line, A New Day. I know some people were bummed about losing some of the classic, well-loved lines, but I’ll admit I was thrilled to see the styles and items that came out of the new ones! This floppy wool hat is quite beautiful, incredibly chic, and also available in black! Definitely a winner in my book. I’ve been wearing my black wool fedora for a few years now, and had yet to find another hat to compete with it, but this one is fantastic!
In addition to these two jewel-toned pieces, I grabbed my new favorite Topshop pants (I swear these jeans are made of magic because they continue fitting like a glove even days after the first wear) and also my darling cognac booties from Charlotte Russe. These shoes are last season’s but I found an almost identical pair that I know you babes will love!
How do you find yourself dressing when a new season begins? Do you stick to your same-old, same-old? Or do you like to try new things and experiment with different styles? Let me know – we will start a conversation in the comment section!
