Friday Five Vol. 9[Graduate Hotel // Byrd House]

Happy Good Friday, everybody! Are you looking forward to Easter weekend?

It has truly felt like spring this past week, with warm days, rainy days, and the perfect middle-ground of sunny and 70° (my ideal weather). I don’t exactly enjoy the sound of wasps buzzing in between our patio screen and glass door, but I’ll take the rays of sunshine that make Luna and I want to curl up on the couch for hours on end.

After a terrible gastroparesis flare-up last week, I’m finally feeling more like myself again. I went to 1213 Hair Studio to get my color touched up. This is my favorite pampering session ever. I love just sitting in the chair and chatting with my stylist. It’s so relaxing. Plus, she gives the best scalp massage when she shampoos! I also got up bright and early with Brandon on Thursday to head to Richmond’s City Hall to go up to their observation deck. It was one of the best views I’ve ever seen of RVA! Then afterwards, B and I went to grab coffee at Sefton Coffee Co. It was such a relaxing morning.

We also received our gorgeous restored vintage rug from Revival Rugs (full blog post coming soon). It’s stunning, and it’s giving us so much inspiration for the rest of our master bedroom – which is currently a blank canvas with all white bedding and white furniture. I got a chance to go to the Graduate Hotel rooftop bar, since I was unable to attend their seasonal opening party last week due to my health issues. I sure do love sitting up there, looking out at RVA, sipping on frosé and eating a chicken sandwich. Man, that’s the life, I tell you what!

SS19 Trend Alert //

Florals (for Spring? Groundbreaking – yeah, I had to). Florals are a spring staple every year, so I guess they’re not exactly a “trend” so much as a “classic.” Still worth adding to your wardrobe.

Kitten Heels are literally the classiest shoe on planet earth, in my opinion. They just scream “Audrey Hepburn” to me, and I love how elegant they make me feel.

Midis and Maxis I told a friend of mine these would be the only skirts/dresses I invest in for spring and summer. It’s a vibe, honestly. Okay, so I did get one denim mini skirt, but from here on out, all midis and maxis for this gal.

Animal Print is fierce and definitely trendy. While there are pieces you can find that are super classy, these intense prints can sometimes come across more casual – or even trashy. So I try to be super conscious of the items I’m picking for myself!

Easter Outfit Inspo //

This maxi dress  was posted with the intention of a derby, but I love it for Easter.

This mini dress is just so lovely for spring and summer. The vibrant color is breathtaking and eye-catching!

This matching set #ItMe – I just love this co-ord too much not to share it!

This casual ensemble I always know when I need inspiration for a gorgeous outfit to turn here. Love the casual, feminine style.

Entertain Me //

Ben Platt has been my musical obsession this past week. I can’t stop listening to his album. DREAMY.

Jane the Virgin I was 100% dedicated to this show from the beginning, but mid-season 4 I kinda slacked off. Now I’m getting back into it and enjoying every minute.

Avengers: Endgame Emotionally unprepared to watch this movie on Thursday (yep, Thursday, because I purchased tickets the morning they were released and planned to go see it prior to the actual show date). I’m excited, but not ready. These movies have been so much of my life for so long, that I’m actually kinda weepy about it coming to an end.

Uninvited I’ve had a lot of people asking for my thoughts on this book, and now that I’m halfway through, I can say it’s, without a doubt, one of the best I’ve ever read. Be prepared for some serious tough heart-check moments. I’ll try to post a full review once I finish it!

NBA Playoffs Woop! Finally playoff time for the NBA, and I’ve already created my bracket. Kinda weird not having the Cavs in the running this season, but I’m excited for a new rivalry!

Funny Letterboards //

I love a good letterboard idea. Mine right now is pretty silly, but these are my current inspirations:

Quirky

Sassy

Silly

Creative

Getting Fit (Physically & Mentally) //

Yoga has been something I’ve been focusing on a lot lately – in fact, trying to accomplish just a sun salutation and vinyasa every day has been my goal. It’s really good for my body and my mind.

Meditation I swear by the Headspace app for guided meditations. Deep breathing is vital for me, since I experience such intense anxiety on a regular basis. Grateful

Quiet Time I’ve been setting aside time in my morning, afternoon, and evening just to read devotionals, my Bible, and spend time in prayer. This has been one of the best uses of my time. I always feel so refreshed after a chat with my Maker.

I love the Headspace app for meditation as well, simple and effective! I also recommend Insight Timer if you haven’t tried that already.

I love the Easter outfit inspo!! So cute. And I swear Headspace is the only app I keep going back to for meditation. I’ve committed to just 10 minutes a day & it’s incredible. Hope you have a happy Easter!

Those rooftop views look so beautiful! You are so lucky you’ve been getting some perfect spring weather too!
I’m sad about endgame too, hard to imagine that chapter coming to a close after all these years.
