The end of March is nearing, but that just means new beginnings for this entreprenuer. From new travel opportunities to side-hustle endeavors and more!
I’ve been a busy bee lately. In fact, March has been one of the busiest months I’ve encountered since the holidays. It’s been a lot of ups and downs, that’s for sure, but I’m grateful for what it’s brought me and taught me. There have been some fun new adventures I’ve gone on, and more to come. Plus I’m working on multiple side-hustles that suck up every hour of my day. Let’s just say, this girl is running on some serious dry shampoo and lots of coffee.

Oh The Places You’ll Go //
Last weekend, in the midst of a super hectic day, my mom kidnapped me. Okay, okay, she didn’t actually – but we planned to go for coffee and instead she trekked out into what felt like the middle of nowhere to a beautiful historic home that’s been transformed into Gather. It’s like a unique gift shop with fair trade goods, local gifts, props used for weddings, and more. It’s Instagrammable at every turn, and parked outside is a cherry red Chevy pickup from the 50’s or 60’s. Talk about cute!
Brandon and I escaped to Staunton, VA for a night at The Blackburn Inn. I have an entire review post coming soon (and maybe a Staunton travel guide), but all you need to know for now was that it was spectacular. Every moment in this quaint little town was something out of a novel. Imagine Stars Hollow from Gilmore Girls, but in real life!
Speaking of traveling: I’m excited to announce that I have several trips coming up this spring and summer! My ultimate goal this year is to introduce more travel content on my blog and social platforms. I may even begin a series with a close friend of mine. So much to brainstorm!
Springtime Shoe Shopping //
I love love love a good block heel sandal. I especially love them if they’re not a super high heel. I’ve had a pair of white braided ones that I’ve completely worn out, so I’m interested in these.
Speaking of a block heel, how cute are these cognac slingbacks? I don’t have any spring/summer shoes in this color, but I want to grab some for myself!
I run through white sneakers like it’s my job, but lately I’ve been considering this blush set since blush is practically a neutral.
I’ve owned these shoes for a few years now, but they’re getting a little tired. So I’m thinking of just re-purchasing the same ones since I love them so much!
I’m finally getting back into my side-hustle: She Shoots RVA. A.K.A. my photography business. I’ve been quiet about this for a while, but I’m honestly pretty proud of my recent work, and I’m looking to take on more clients over the following months. My primary focus is photography for content creators, bloggers, and influencers. I shoot for you and not myself – so I edit to your taste, shoot to your photography style, and make sure you 100% love the photos before ending our session. It’s been so much fun to get out there, and I can’t wait to see what will come of it!
Blog Posts You Loved This Month //
You all loved reading about the Harry Potter party I threw for my 25th birthday. I think a lot of you came for the butterbeer recipe freebie, but stayed because that party was so dang cool. 😉
Unsurprisingly, my post on how to deal with a bad day definitely received a lot of views. Hey, we all have them. It’s just good to know that we’re not alone and that there are ways to push through with grace!
An oldie, but a goodie, my post about the top cafés and coffee shops in RVA is gaining traffic again. This is definitely the most-read article I’ve ever written. I try to update it as often as I can, but I think it’s time for another refresh!
As always, I’m sad when I finish a container of my favorite charcoal mask by Origins. It’s fantastic for “that time of the month” when I’m breaking out more than usual. And over the past few weeks, I think I had an allergic reaction to a particular primer I was testing, so my breakouts were 10x worse. This mask helped a TON. I’ve repurchased several times.
My shampoo and conditioner set from Davines has been a lifesaver for my hair. Not only does it help me prolong washes, but it also keeps it sleek and smooth and makes the color last longer! I’ve repurchased this a handful of times as well. I love nearly every product I’ve tried from this brand.
I’m still trying to find the perfect dry shampoo. I’ve been using the Divine Dark by Batiste, but recently I’ve also tried their volumizing dry shampoo, as well as The Brunette spray by SGX NYC. I still haven’t found the ideal product, since I love the volumizing one (my hair tends to fall super flat with dry shampoo since it’s so fine) but I prefer a darker tint since I hate seeing white flecks throughout my locks. Not sure what I’ll purchase next.
I was bummed to run out of my Perversion mascara by Urban Decay. I’ve loved the Too Faced Better Than Sex for so long, but this one topped it! It lengthened my lashes wonderfully (and goodness knows I need all the length I can get. My lashes are minuscule). It’s on the pricey side, so I chose a drugstore product to purchase this time, but my next Sephora giftcard goes straight to this mascara, for sure!
Also incredibly sad to run out of my Tarte Shape Tape concealer. It’s my favorite of all time. However, it’s also pricey, so while I’ve repurchased it a dozen times over, this time I decided on a drugstore option that I’ve used in the past. It’s definitely not up to par.
